AANP

AANP (American Association of Nurse Practitioners) is a professional organization dedicated to empowering all nurse practitioners (NPs) to advance quality health care through practice, education, advocacy, research, and leadership. Established in 1985, the organization has more than 118,000 members.

Mission and Vision

AANP's mission is to promote excellence in NP practice, education, and research; and its vision is that nurse practitioners lead the charge in expanding access to high-quality, patient-centered health care.

Membership and Benefits

Members of AANP can be nurse practitioners, NP students, or health care organizations. Benefits include access to continuing education opportunities (including free AANP-accredited CE), networking events such as conferences and local chapters across the United States, as well as resources on clinical practice guidelines and research.

Advocacy

AANP actively pursues legislative initiatives and regulatory changes to advance the NP profession at both federal and state levels. The organization’s Health Policy Team works with government agencies, Congress, and other stakeholders in promoting favorable policies for NPs and their patients.

Conferences and Events

AANP hosts two major conferences annually: the AANP National Conference and the AANP Fall Conference. The conferences provide networking opportunities along with educational sessions focused on clinical skills workshops, health policy updates, various therapeutic areas, and professional development.

Publications

Members have access to the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (JAANP), which publishes original research articles on clinical practice, education, policy issues affecting NPs. Additionally, AANP runs a robust newsroom with regular updates on NP-related news and events.
